Walking Together for Mental Health: Highlights from NAMIWalks San Diego 2025
On Saturday, April 26th, the Opal Psychological team had the honor of participating in NAMIWalks San Diego, an inspiring community event dedicated to raising awareness for mental health and advocating for accessible care for all.
As a health psychologist and proud board member of the San Diego Psychological Association (SDPA), I had the privilege of serving as a team captain and coordinating our association’s participation. Together, psychologists, community leaders, and families came out in full force to walk a 1.5-mile loop—standing in solidarity for those impacted by mental health conditions and affirming our shared commitment to stigma-free support.
The energy was high, and the sense of connection was even higher.
Throughout the day, participants explored interactive booths from local mental health organizations, gathered resources, and had meaningful conversations about wellness, recovery, and hope. Opal Psychological was proud to show up in support of these values, because we believe healing doesn’t happen in isolation—it happens in community.
Why Events Like NAMIWalks Matter
In a time when mental health concerns are more visible—but still stigmatized—events like NAMIWalks play a powerful role in shifting the conversation. They remind us that:
Mental health is health.
No one should have to navigate emotional struggles alone.
Community care is just as important as clinical care.
Whether you’re walking for a loved one, for yourself, or simply to learn more, showing up is a powerful act of advocacy.
Opal Psychological’s Commitment
At Opal Psychological, we specialize in the mind-body connection—supporting clients navigating anxiety, chronic illness, trauma, and stress-related conditions. But beyond the therapy room, we are committed to broader mental health advocacy, community outreach, and inclusive care. Participating in NAMIWalks is just one example of how we live out our values.
Thank you to everyone who joined, walked, donated, or cheered us on. We look forward to continuing this important work—together.
