Dr. Alina Mraz, clinical psychologist at Opal Psychological, a therapy practice in La Jolla, San Diego

Meet Dr. Alina Mraz

Dr. Mraz earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University in San Diego, completed her APA-accredited internship at Sharp Mesa Vista, and finished her postdoctoral fellowship at the Forensic Assessment Institute of Southern California. That training shows up in the room as steadiness — the kind of grounded, evidence-based care that holds space for whatever a client is carrying.

Her clinical focus centers on adolescents and young adults facing depression, anxiety, ADHD, mood disorders, and the disorientation of major life transitions. She also brings specialized experience supporting clients through suicidal ideation, self-injurious behavior, and psychotic disorders — the moments that call for both clinical precision and deep compassion.

Her Approach to Therapy

Dr. Mraz's style is defined by authenticity over jargon. She's less interested in performing "therapist voice" and more invested in real human connection — the kind that actually helps people build a life worth living.

She draws from evidence-based modalities including:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)

These approaches are especially effective for emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and self-harm reduction — areas where Dr. Mraz has particular clinical depth, alongside her work in school refusal, life adjustments, and supporting justice-involved youth and neurodivergent clients.

Who She Works With

Dr. Mraz welcomes:

  • Adolescents (16+)

  • Adults (18+)

  • LGBTQIA2S+ individuals

Whether it's a teenager struggling to get back to school, a young adult facing their first major life transition, or an adult managing a mood disorder, her care is tailored to meet each client exactly where they are.

A Bit More About Dr. Mraz
